JOHNNORTHCUTT was born Abt. 1770 in North Carolina, and died Bet. 1810 – 1820 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He was the son of William Northcutt and Sarah Williams. He married RUHAMA TUCKER Bef. 1797. She was born Abt. 1774 in North Carolina, and died Abt. 1838 in Tennessee.

b.. Hosea Northcott c.1766 SC m. Sally Sanders. Dolly Northcutt gives his bp as Wilmington, NC or nearby & states that wife Sanders is a cousin of Andrew Jackson. Among his children was Robert Saunders Northcott (see “Prominent men of W. Va.; by Geo. W. Atkinson & Alvaro F. Gibbens, pp325-327.)
c. William Northcott c.1768 SC m. Catherine <-?->. Dolly states he moved to Columbus, Ohio but also gives some census reports of him in Rutherford Co., TN. She does not report on any issue. (I seem to recall in LDS records a William Northcutt who married a Catherine Soap, but I don’t have the record at hand and am not sure they’re the same person or not without looking.)
d. John Northcott, c.1770 Hartford, NC m. Ruamah (Amy) Tucker. The Pratt sheets show a child: Joel Northcott, c.1772 (must be a mistake) in Hartford Co.,, NC (Actually I think this is Hertford Co., & from my SLC trip I remember lots of Northcutts still in 19th century Hertford Co., NC records though I didn’t xerox them; maybe I should have.)
The LDS records show a family group sheet submitted for John & Ruamah Northcott by Mariam B. Adair Covington & gives their children as William Tucker, Love Tucker, Mary Tucker, Mahala Tucker, Sarah (Sally), Emeline, Adeline Tucker, William Carrol, Lovina Tucker or bitha Lovina & Johanna Tucker Nothcott. The temple ordinances go back to 1877 and then leap to 1966 & 1968. There a couple of other group sheets from this branch submitted.

In 1877 a company of twenty was called to go to the St. George Temple. There were six young couples going to be married, including myself and Jedediah Grant Adair. We were all excited and happy. The girls wore homespun dresses and the men wore homespun suits. We camped out every night. Jedediah Adair and I were married February 1st, 1877. President Brigham Young gave a wonderful talk afterwards, shaking hands with everyone. This was President Young’s last trip south before he died.
My husband and I had a wonderful trip back to Orderville and our married life started in earnest. While living there, four children were born to us and then we moved to Glendale. We lived there five years and our home was blessed with two more children. We then returned to Orderville but the United Order had been taken away.
In the year 1898 we moved to Tropic. We lived there ten years. Nothing pleased us better than to be working for our Church. I belonged to the choir, the Relief Society and I was Primary chorister.
My husband and I are now living at 605 Garden Avenue in the Wandamere Ward, and I am still working in the Church, being a teacher in Relief Society and am Chaplain of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Florence Ellen Fowler Adair died December 31, 1946, at the age of 87 years.

Soon after the turn of the century, Jedediah Adair with his plural wife, Julia Ann, and eight children located on the Sweetwater and bought out John Campbell’s claim. Mrs. Adair took up a homestead of 160 acres and the family moved onto the land April 15, 1902, taking shelter in a woodshed which had been built by the former sheep man. Julia Ann and her two daughters, Ida and Charlotte, did the first plowing in the settlement and the family tore down the old woodshed to erect a more comfortable dwelling. When it was proven that grain could be grown in John’s Valley, other settlers followed and named their infant colony Houston in honor of James Houston, president of the stake. Other early settlers were the families of Mahonri Moriancum Steele, W.J. Henderson, Bryce Henderson, John W. Young, Adelbert Twitchell, Allen Cameron, Clayborn Elder and others. The co-op herds belonging to the Kanarraville Co-op, the K.S.R. Ranch and the Z.C.M.I. found forage there.

Joseph Alonzo Hyde was one of the children born in San Bernardino, California during the few years the little Mormon colony functionedthere. He was the son of Joseph and Tabitha Billingsley Hyde who went there as a young bride and groom. Joseph was born May 6, 1853. When he was four years of age his parents returned to Utah and settled in the southern part of the territory.
In 1878 Joseph went to Nephi, Juab county where he established a small mercantile business. Here he met and married Ada V. Hague. Their first home was an adobe room but as the family grew, other rooms were added until it became a modern four room home. Mr. Hyde became a member of the Nephi City Council and served two terms as mayor of the town. After their children were married, the Hydes moved back to California settling in San Diego. Mrs. Hyde died a year later. Joseph was seventy-eight years of age at the time of his demise. ?Hortense Hyde Booth

The Rock Schoolhouse was the first permanent public building in Orderville and served for a number of years as both schoolhouse and church. Edward and Delbert Webb were the contractors for the building and did some carpenter work on it. Wallace Adair and Heber Hogan quarried the rock from the hills three miles north of Orderville. Henry W. Esplin and Hans Sorensen hauled the rock. John Everett laid the walls, using lime mortar. Graham McDonald lathed and plastered the building and lumber shingles were made by the Order Incorporation. The structure was remodeled several times to meet the needs of the school and was in constant use until 1936.
