Lucinda (Ella?) Dyches was born November 17, 1840 in Jefferson County, TX and died September 2, 1915 in Coleman County, Texas.  She married William H. Herndon.  He was born Jan 27, 1833 and died January 3, 1899.  January 3 is a strangely coincidental date for this family.  Lucinda’s sister, Jerusha, was born on that day in 1835.  Her sister Lavica Dyches Bingham died on that day in 1910 (and a direct descendant was married on that day decades later).

Both Lucinda and William are buried in Dyches Cemetery, Bartlett, Bell County, TX.  The good people who made the find, cleaned and worked hard at the site, as it had not been tended to in decades.

Lucinda’s marker has the initials “L.R.” on it.  But it should be noted that the Herndon name was misspelled on that side of the stone (Lucinda and William’s names are on opposite sides of the same marker).  But that does bring into question, once again, Lucinda’s middle name.  Was it actually Ella?  The 1850 census has her name as “Lucindarella.”  One would suppose that could be a nickname – a play on “Cindarella” (the original story was written in 1697).  But it could certainly have also been a mistake on the part of the census taker.  Could her middle name have been given to her as Rella?  Possible.  If one enters rella + names in a search engine, you get interesting info.
