Jerusha D. Dyches and David Hutcheson McFadin

Jerusha D. Dyches was born about 1814 in St. Tammany Parish, LA. She was the daughter of Josiah Dyches and Lucinda (?). She married David Hutcheson McFadin July 25, 1833 in Texas. They were re-married on March 19, 1838 in Jefferson County, TX. He was the son of William Mcfadin and Sarah Jett.

He joined the Texas army March 2, 1836, and served in the Second Company, Third Regiment. He fought in the Battle of San Jacinto; and was discharged September 2, 1836. He was elected Sheriff of Jefferson County in 1842.

In 1846, he acquired a league of land in Milam County, and moved there with other members of the Dyches family in December of that year, settling in what was to be known as Circleville. in 1848, Williamson County was formed using part of Milam County and he was elected to that county’s first county commission. Judge Kirby Vance purchased the McFadin home in 1950 and registered it with the Texas Historical Commission. The family cemetery is there.

Jerusha died July 7, 1880 and was buried in McFadin cemetery. He died October 7, 1896.
