Josiah Dyches was born about 1770 in South Carolina. He married Lucinda (Taliaferro?) about 1790. She was born about 1774 in South Carolina. It is believed that he died before 1820. Lucinda made a written request to a St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana judge to authorize the marriage of their daughter Nancy Ann Dyches to Joseph Fish. This would seem to support the approximate date of Josiah’s death. Lucinda died after 1860 in Williamson county, TX.
Most researchers for this Dyches line list Lucinda’s maiden name as Taliaferro, but it has been rightly pointed out to us by someone far more knowledgeable (thank you, P.M.!) that there is no primary evidence of that. If you personally can point the way to some, it would be greatly appreciated.
