JAMES KOEN BLOUNT was born October 04, 1832 in Washington County, Alabama, and died April 27, 1918 in Brady, McCulloch County, TX. He was the third son of John Thomas Blount and Clarissa Ann Cartwright. He married LYDIA ANN MOORE July 15, 1852 in Mississippi, daughter of WILLIAM MOORE and PRICILLA ROE. She was born June 07, 1833 in Pickens County, Alabama, and died February 01, 1907 in Bandera County, Texas. They were married July 15, 1852 in Mississippi.
James Koen Blount, Sr. made his Civil War pension application in Medina, Bandera County, TX on March 5,1902, signed on March 6. He stated that his age was 69 and that his physical condition was bad due to exposure during service and old age. He listed his property as 35 head of cattle and 4 horses, valued at $350.
The 1900 census states that Lydia had 12 children and 9 were living at the time. We know that Cleacia Ann and John T. Thomas Blount were two of those that had died before that time, and all except for William Beauregard Blount are accounted for, so we can deduce that he died before June of 1900.
